What to do About Loose Skin Post Weight Loss

Q: I have lost 22 pounds and I am noticing that my skin feels soft and loose over all and I look like I am losing shape in my fanny, breasts and the shape of my arms too...I am female, 61, in great health, not on any medication, taking a multiple vitamin, eat healthy (mostly fish-chicken-salads-vegetables & fruit to keep the carbs & fat low while limiting my sugar intake too.) I walk 3 to 5 miles at least 4 times a week, work full time and stay active socially. What can I take and do to stop the soft loose feeling of my skin and tighten and firm my fanny, breasts and arms? Is there a supplement, or an amount of protein that I should be taking? I will start to lift some weights but that is a long process and it is harder for women to develop muscle tone...there must be something that can stop the break down of tissue and assist in maintaining the bodies form while losing weight. Looking forward to your input. Thank you

Here are a few exercises you can try:

1) Modified push-ups, chest presses and flies.

2) Tricep kickbacks, extensions and dips.

3) Leg curls, squats and lunges.

Adding these exercises to your daily regimen will hopefully yield the results you are looking for!

Editor's Note: While there plenty of supplements on the market that claim to tighten loose skin, it is very important to know that none of them have been FDA approved. Weight training exercises coupled with a healthy diet are the best way to achieve results naturally. For total body results, we suggest signing up for a body conditioning class at your local fitness center - - they are quick and effective.

Of course, many individuals who have experienced weight loss opt for elective cosmetic surgery. If that is the route you choose to take, be sure to find a reputable plastic surgeon who comes with plenty of referrals and recommendations.
