Compared to a traditional gastric bypass, the procedure is done with a laparoscope instead of a single, large incision. And according to information from the University of Chicago Medical Center, patients report less pain and fewer complications such as: wound infection and hernias.

Remember, any surgical procedure comes with potential complications and it is very important to discuss your options in depth with a health care professional.
