Elliptical Machine Saco ME

Shot Knees but Scared of Swimming

Q: I have suffered knee problems in the past few years and had to stop running. Though I know swimming is the best exercise, I am petrified of water. Anything you can recommend that is light on the knees but high on cardio?

 

I can relate to being petrified of water. I signed up for 3 triathlons, only to back out because I couldn't get into the water. Swimming is excellent for people with knee problems.

I highly suggest you finding a swim instructor or class for adult beginner swimmers and ease your way into the water. I did and doing my first triathlon this summer! Another great option is water running. You do it in a pool, your head stays out of the water and it's a great form of cardio and easy on the knees!
