Is Golf Better in a Group or One-On-One?

Q: I am interested in taking up golf or tennis this summer. Do you recommend group or private lessons? What are some of the things I should look for before enrolling in a program?

Golf is a great activity to take up! Not only does golf tone and strengthen your upper body (swing), core (rotation) and legs (if you walk the course), it improves your balance and coordination. Walking the course also helps you burn unwanted body fat.

Depending on your personality, either group and private lessons will work. If you are looking to meet new people in the sport, don't need one on one attention and are good at learning from others, a group would suit you best. On the other hand, if you have no idea what you are doing, really want to learn the basics with no distractions, a private lesson would be best for you. A lot of golf clubs also offer semi private lessons with one or two other people. This helps lessen the cost and you still get a lot off guided attention. Most instructors and clubs are accredited, but you can check out their credentials in your search. You can also ask for references of past clients to get first hand input on the instructor you are considering. Have fun!
